![]() I have a passion for science communication and poetry. My latest work utilizes automatic video analysis and machine learning algorithms to boost our linguistic research. I co-founded and developed a large lexical database for American Sign Language ( ) and created the first publicly available picture naming norms for ASL ( ASL-PND). Last, but not least, I investigate how the deaf brain adapts to the visual word as a way to understand brain plasticity and reading skills in deaf and hard-of-hearing readers. I'm also curious about how humans accomplish such an incredible feat such as learning a language or multiple languages, especially both spoken/written and signed! I'm particularly interested in the study of signed languages because they can help linguists uncover patterns that are common to all natural languages. I study how words and signs are organized in people's minds and how the brain supports language and communication in spoken and signed modalities. I'm a Lecturer in Language Acquisition at San Diego State University. ![]() I am a multilingual brain nerd and interested in all things linguistics. ![]() from University College London (UCL) in Cognitive, Perceptual and Brain Sciences (now UCL Psychology & Language Sciences, PaLS). ![]() I am a Research Scientist at San Diego State University, Laboratory for Language and Cognitive Neuroscience (LLCN) at San Diego State University. ![]()
